They are very tricky to take off a frag. Their soft bodies are vulnerable. It can be done be be very gentle, use a razor blade and make sure not to slice the coral. They are, of course, very small which can make them hard to handle. Gluing them back down can mean gluing them to your finger. I'd leave them on the frag personally.

I agree, the frag plug is probably your friend. You could take a hammer and chisel and trim it so it's as tiny as you can get it without impacting the Zoas themselves-- that tiny piece of frag will still give you something to glue to.

I second this. Sometimes they'll come off the frag plug easily, but most times I just have to trim the plug down as small as I can get it before remounting it on something. I use diagonal cutting pliers. Much easier to be semi-precise than using a hammer/chisel.

Removing as much of the plug as possible allows you to minimize anything invasive that might come in on the plug.

We took bone cutters on our zoas and snipped off the long part, but kept the base of the plug on the zoas. It allowed for relatively easy mounting without having to deal with fully removing the zoas from the plug.

I just cut the stem off the frag and glue the disk down. It won't be noticeable once the zoa's grow out.

^^ What mojo said - The zoas will grow over the disc and you'll never see it again. There are 3 discs and one tile with these zoas for reference.

Usually you cut whatever you want to frag with a blade From the mother but keep it on the frag then cut that frag into a piece with that polyp
