Go To Clown Food

Picked up 2 young black and white Ocellaris from my LFS. Saw them go to town on some frozen mysis at the store. But of course, now that I have them at home they're too good for it.

Anybody have any tips for what I should add to the pantry for these guys? What's your go to clown food?

That’s normal for them not to eat at the beginning.

My clown really struggled with pellets, more than just the normal acclamation period. I switched to LRS Reef Frenzy and he loved it. It is less convenient than pellets, but I got this defroster cup that I put the food in, I walk away for 10-15 minutes, and when I come back I just stir it with my finger and it feeds the tank.

I am starting to pre-cut my chunks to size. Taking it in and out of the freezer everyday makes it pretty hard to work with once you get to the end of the bag.

They should eat after a day or two once they are use to their new surroundings. I feed mine frozen foods, LRS, Rods, PE mysis , blood worms. They really are not too picky. Good luck.

If you want to color them up, you can also feed them TDO Chroma Boost, which is now sold at BRS:

Although I just re-read your post and since you have black and white occis, this food won't have the same affect that it does on orange fish.

I use the pellets developed by Sustainable Aquatics.

My Wyoming Whites love it! I also feed them frozen bring that I have thawed and rinsed in tank water.

Mine like the small PE Pellets, I also feed them PE frozen for dinner.

Mysis and Vitalis flakes are my go to although mine would eat a dog turd if I dropped one in the tank!

+1 I feed a pretty good mixture but the pellets from them are a staple for smaller fish.
