Go with over rated skimmer?

Going to be setting up a 220 display with a 120 sump and most likely a medium sized frag tank. My question is if I can or should get a skimmer over rated for my system. Let's say the skimmer I am looking at is a vertex aplha cone 300 rated from 250 to 600 gallons. I know i am pretty much in range with the factory ratings for the skimmer, but would like input from others on the choice.Going to go with a minimal aquascape and geared for sps and of course a little of everything from zoo to chalices in the frag tank. My fish load will probably be high as well. Looking forward to feedback , thanks all

that skimmer should be big enough to run your whole system.

Oh I know it's big enough. Concern being is it too big? I might just be over assuming that my bio load won't be big enough at first , but I guess that means I will get some larger fish in the tank :) and as the system matures with coral it should be a perfect way to pull out raw proteins and organics ect.

yes. with a bigger skimmer you have room to expand your system in the future without replacing a new one.
