Tank had been setup a week now. This is more my sons tank, I more or less help take care of it. He is 10 and I’m hoping this teaches him some patience. He isn’t happy having to wait to add stuff , but he understands and has been researching what he can put in this size tank. He also saved up most of the money to start the tank. I’m thinking of adding some more rock as it only has about 40 pounds in the display. I can probably add another 10-20 in the sump. Tank has a 950gph return pump, coral life 36 inch led tri-lamp light, sump is 30x14x16 , Jebao wave maker. I’ll be adding a auto top off soon.

Looks good so far. Love your clowns. It all depends on what you want to add if you need more rock or not. I think you have a nice start. Patience is a good lesson for a 10 year old....and maybe dad too! LOL

What's the overall desire for the tank? right now i think it looks good. There's nothing growing in the tank so it may seem a bit bare. Once it starts to fill in I think you'll be happy. Sometimes less is more.

It’s going to be a reef tank. My son wants to do pretty much all soft corals. He doesn’t really like the look of hard corals. Just seams like a lot of space between the top of the rock and the top of the tank.

hmmm, maybe look around and ask some soft coral tank keepers what they think. leathers and xenia seem like they can get pretty large. But it's his tank and if it's more rock he wants and it's in the budget then go for it. Only one way to find out!!

Hitting a month of being setup. Checked all the main levels and everything looks good. But we got a Halloween crab and he was moving around a lot for the first few days but now hasn’t moved at all in a few days. I have seen him poke out but not move also one of my snails seams to have died also. The 2 clowns seam to be happy and are eating good. They already know when I open the hood it’s feeding time lol. Also getting a good amount of alge growing in the tank. A lot on the over flow. I have cut back on just running the lights for 4 hours or so a day to maybe help out. Should I get some more clean up crew . Only have the Halloween crab and 2 nassarius snails at the moment. Wanted to wait till test all came back good before adding to much. Thanks for any feed back.
