Hawaii should open up again. Rumor has it. Lol
Angler is super cool at feeding but just chills rest of the time. They are also short lived in captivity. I kept the last one for 2.5 years and it was pretty unusual.

before I got the eel, I read someone say “one of the coolest animals in my tank” I tend to agree.

yes, added a month ago, ate on the second day, and every 3-4 days thereafter. Fed him market shrimp meat.
Mix the food up, clams, shrimp, squid etc.

if you stress them, like move around rock work, they’ll sometimes go on a food strike.

Sure do! Till date the resident tangs aren't allowing it to explore.

I think some wholesales are selling them out of Tahiti or the Philippines. They may be collected in Hawaii. But I saw one recently and was told "collected in the Philippines" I was also told it was rare to find them there. It was in fact a true species im looking for but I was to slow to purchase.
I'm sure once in a while the pelagic fry make it to neighboring islands and actually survive at other islands, albeit rarely. This happens with other endemics, like some end up near the Johnston Atoll I believe.
