I have a 65 gallon mixed reef. Trying to dial in lighting to make everything close to happy. Got a bunch of new corals in early September including this Goni. It looks like it stayed the darker green for about a month and then went to what looks like a highlighter yellow look.

I have a Vabira par meter that measures about 120 there (bottom of my tank). Other corals “seem” to be ok.

I’ve read that the can be light stress though. I’ve also read it could be healthy????? I just don’t know. Here’s a picture of the entire tank for context.

It seems to have tentacles out about the same as it originally did.

My tank was let go for about 2 years and I started to give it full attention in Aug and got it on track. Added corals again in Sep.

Parameters have been in check
Alk 8.5. (With one dosing mistake spike to 10 on Nov 6th)
Phosphate .1
Nitrate 5-10

Everything seems to be looking ok to good and growing slow to med

I just was looking back at pictures and didn’t realize the Goni had changed that much.

Any thoughts are appreciated.

A few people saying it looks healthy, which may be the case.

In my experience, when they pale out like that, it's often followed by polyps not coming out and the coral getting more and more unhappy. Keep an eye on it - if it starts to look worse, move it to an area of lower light.

I've got over 40 varieties of goni growing my system and I've had a couple do this occasionally.

Thanks for the feedback. It def feels a little like it’s not right. So I will keep monitoring it.
