I once purchased a large Goniopora, but due to my negligence, it died. I recently purchased two Goni frags, but don't know what (if anything) to do with them.

Do I cut the coral from the frag plug and mount the coral to rubble, a larger rock, or do I simply leave the frag on the plug and hope the Goni encrusts over the frag plug to make the large skeleton ball?

Any advice is much appreciated.

You can do either. I'd suggest leaving it on the plug until you find a happy spot that it likes. Then you can glue it in place or leave it on the plug. It should grow either way.
