Gonioporas won’t open fully

I don’t have any idea why the go is won’t open all the way in my tank high par low par they won’t open that much at all, I’ve tried dosing manganese but it didn’t change really anything

What are your parameters? Lighting? Any fish to be concerned about?

I have them all in the Sand bed parameters are
Calcium-540:(
Alk-8.7
Mag-1400
Nitrate-10
Ph-8.0
No fish besides a clown pair a six line and a lawnmower blenny

Gonioporas are very sensitive, so the high calcium may be the issue. The coral is also pretty much starving from no nutrients.

Also, read through this thread. However, make sure that your parameters are good and stable before performing this!

Okay so I read through it about the dip but I think it’s right about my nitrates they have been very low I think that may be the problem

Try target feeding it might help especially if your tank is low nutrients. Are the clowns using the gonio as a host?

I don't see phosphates on your test list. From what I've seen 0 to nil phosphates will make gonis fairly angry.

I don’t test phosphates and I feel like anytime I try to add reef roids to bump it up a bit even a little bit or reef roids and my dynos come back

If you are still getting dinos it is from too low nutrients likely. Your tank may be so starved for nutrients that when you add the roids they grow. You may have them for a bit when you do start raising them. It might be better at first to dose straight phosphate (if it is too low) instead of roids. I have to dose nitrate and phosphate. And can tell when my amount is getting too low. The gonis are usually the first to get ticked in that they stop extending as much or are closed more often. With gonis you for sure need to be testing your phosphate level.

I wouldn’t say your nitrate has to be high. Anywhere above 10 and you’re probably OK. I haven't gotten mine higher than that yet. Im trying too a bit still. Im shooting for 0.05-0.1 on phosphate. But only ay .03 right now still.

Someone else may be able to help you better there. I’m running a UV sterilizer on my tank. Which never let Dios even get more than a light dusting in my tank.

You might double check your flow and size if it’s too fast or too slow it may not be able to keep up with how fast they reproduce.

How long have you had the goni's? Have they ever opened all the way? You say "they" so how many goni's are not opening? I think some pictures would really help.
