I know this isnt helpfull at all, but i do absolutely nothing special for my gonis. When i got them i didnt know they needed anything special or were considered difficult by some. My wife said “oo pretty” so she got that and i got another acro. Then i won some bernardipora (shorter tentacle goni) at auction and did same thing. They have been thriving thus far. I only feed ever so often and its always broadcast feed, just when i feel like it. Could be every few days of every few weeks. Sure gonis like it but idk if they need it. I also agree with others that Gonis like high Mg and Mn. But dont go dosing extra Mn until your sure you actually need to. I highly recommend an ICP test first. Imo excessive amounts can be more dangerous than non detectable. Heres my latest ICP test for reference to parameters:

Owow I took a icp test yesterday here’s my levels and keep in mind this is the moment before my weekly water change so this is the worst my water looks.
Also my salinity was 33 so keep that in mind as well
Alk was 9
Po4 0
Nitrate 0

Mn is very oxidative in saltwater, so it's going to take quite a bit almost everyday to get any kind of concentration in solution.

I dose ~20mL RMS Mn daily and that's been the sweet spot so far that keeps my concentration correct. ~105g total volume system with SPS and a big fuge.

Everyone has spot on info here . Keep nitrates up and dosing 1ml manganese daily definitely helped with all the Gonis I have . The pink one used to be small and is now baseball-ish sized .. rest are growing too but really started to see a difference when I raised nitrates to 15 and dosing manganese daily

I use Captiv8 as well. Their products are affordable as well. They have an all in one trace element product as well. It’s about $16.

I don’t believe elevated no3 is at all important, as my no3 is undetectable with hobby test kits and ICP has it at 0.30 ppm, with 3 very healthy examples. My biggest problem with Gonis is faster growing SPS shade them.

Hi Guys! I’m about 1.5 years into my reef tank journey and I finally feel like I got a hang on things. I want to try a Gonipora!!!!!

Any tips or things I should watch out for ? I heard they are hard to take care of but I’m up for the challenge!!

Calcium 459
Alk 9.1
Phosphate 0.07
Nitrate undetectable (will start feeding more and dosing a bit of nitrates but nothing crazy)
Po4 0.07
Magnesium 1660
Salinity 35

Also I do weekly water changes
+1 on the manganese. Also, spot feed reef roids and/or goniopower 2-3 times a week. Give them a good amount of flow. Gonis love flow despite what many distributors say. I keep mine where I acclimate new acros to give you an idea of how much flow mine get.
Any pics of yours?
Here are some of mine. I’m just starting my Goni garden again after taking a hiatus from reefing because of life getting busy. I’ve had these for several months, and they’ve grown pretty quickly. It definitely helps if you get a Goni strain that has been established in the hobby for several years.
