So I bought this one to try. Really cheap and small. I put it on a little tripod so it is looking down and the IR reflects in a different direction. I'm having a problem getting it to work with Blue Iris but if I can get it to work it's nearly perfect.

So I finally settled on this camera. I couldn't get the other one to work properly with Blue Iris. The framerate was awful. Literally 1 frame every 4 seconds.

It's frustrating when night vision doesn't work as expected. I've been doing some browsing online for smart home devices lately and stumbled upon the Vivint smart home webpage. They have some cool suggestions that might help you find the right camera for your tanks.Regarding the cameras you mentioned, it's great that you found one that works for you. The wansview camera sounds promising with its 1080P HD resolution and Alexa compatibility.I'm also in the process of setting up my home monitoring system, so it's always helpful to hear about others' experiences. Keep tinkering with Blue Iris, and hopefully, you'll get it working smoothly with your chosen camera.
I ended up getting a Foscam. I got the other one to work but the frame rate was awful.

So I just realized what is going on. My camera in my basement (the Foscam) is pointed down at the tank so the IR reflects down. The other camera is pointing straight at the tank so it reflects right back. I'll have to figure out a way to mount it higher.

I am still returning the camera I have now, it only works with their app. I want something I can use with Blue Iris.
Try shooting from the side or from above – basically any angle that doesn't reflect light back into your lens. IR is pretty much glare's best friend, and we don't want that

Just grow it: Have you ever added CO2 to your reef tank?
