Hey y’all, I have been cleaning my filters out quite a bit, but I’m now realizing I have a wimpy filter cause it’s only rated for 5 gal, and it’s in a 10 gal tank….i really want to get good quality equipment for my tanks, so, what would be a good filter for a 10 gal. I did found this one on amazon…thoughts?

To answer the question, its fine to use. But personally I think its a bit overkill for a 10 gallon.

Can I ask, what purpose do you use the hob filter for? And what is stocked in the tank? A 10 gallon should not have so much bioload that you need to upgrade the filter.

I have a 15 gallon tank that has a tiny hob that I use to run activated carbon, but the major source of filtration are my weekly water changes. The biofiltration - which is the most important of all - is provided by the live rock.

The tank is overstocked…it has to many fish, I’m trying to rehome most of them. But the filter keep accumulating so much gunk

I was also thinking that this filter can double as a small sump…and I was thinking about putting like, live macro algae’s in there…good idea?
