I've been using vfemail but the intermittent delays make it worthless for critical notifications. Just now I barely got the text messages (email to text) about my return pump turning off during feeding from yesterday.

Any alternatives that don't require SSL? I'm willing to pay a small monthly fee to not have to deal with this.

I use gmail.

How'd you get it to work with gmail. AFAIK the apex classic doesn't support SSL which is required by gmail and many others.

Didn’t this become obsolete with fusion?

Yes. You no longer need an email on the Classic. I used to use GMX, but have been using Fusion for all of my notifications since shortly after it became available. I set it to email me as well as text my phone for any alerts.

I don't know why but mine loses connection to Fusion after a day or so and will never connect again until I remove it and register it again to Fusion. Tried pretty much every suggestions - static ip, static ip above .100...etc.

Honestly I don’t know how I set it up. I have a classic. It might be in fusion. I’ll try to look tonight. I do know I’m using gmail though.

The classic works on Gmail. I had it on Gmail for the longest time until upgraded to apex 2016.

To be clear, he is not asking how to receive emails from fusion, he’s asking how to set up a client that lets the apex send emails (not through fusion) which, at least when I did it back before fusion, was not supported by gmail.

Yes, any email service can receive the emails coming from Fusion or Classic (once setup correctly). But what I'm trying to do is use an email hosting service to send the emails. Fusion will do this for you but I can never get mine to stay connected. I've tried all suggestions and gave up but I guess I can revisit this issue again and see if I can get it working with Fusion.

I was able to use Gmail to send alerts from apex classic before fusion.
