Good Morning!

All this talk of stormy weather has me thinking about backup power.. I could use some advice on solutions to keep my tanks on life support until/if I need to break out the portable gas generator. The wife and I are getting quotes for a whole house generator, but that'll probably be a few months out at least. In the meantime, what are your thoughts on stop gap measures beyond battery operated air pumps and EcoTech batteries for the MP10's?

My main tank draws about 325-350 watts at any given time, with spikes to 625-650 if both heaters are on at the same time. I'm thinking I could get by with just one heater though. The nano tank uses between 55-75 at the most.

Something like this Westinghouse iGen600s looks like it would probably cover both for at least 6 hours if I'm doing the math right.

I'm just happy my wife suggested we get the whole house generator and stop screwin around lol, but until then.. Murphy's law is a cruel ******* sometimes lol

Nice Jack-o lantern lepto's next to it anyway :D
Those are actually doing quite well considering they are only under 30watts. Starting to cover the plugs nicely.

My Nano doesn’t use a whole lot of power either. I’ve got the little one ( pictured below) and on a full charge, I can run my return pump (Sicce 1.0) for over 7 hours. 2EF18B58-3ECE-4FB3-B035-9144E2BC89F2.png 3751671E-6CC9-4A08-AE23-0E5EEA431166.jpeg

Good Morning Everyone!
Gonna take advantage of one more nice day today before the rain returns tonite. I got the whole back area mowed yesterday, just under an acre, and will probably mow more today. I also have two diseased/almost dead trees that I need to take down before Mother Nature does it for me. Hopefully, I can get my neighbor to give me a hand today or else they will have to wait. Safety first! NEVER fell a tree by yourself!

The Fire shrimp has come out to eat the last few days but still no sign of his buddy, the cleaner shrimp. New clove polyps are still very slow to emerge. I think I’ll run a full series of tests today. Not really sure what’s going on with them.

Hope Y’all have a spectacular day!
Stay Safe My Friends! ;)

I normally would get someone to do it but they are not very big. One is a cedar that is about 8” at the base and about 30’ tall. I want to save that one and cut it into slices and make something out if it.
the other is a White Oak about the same size. They are both out in the open so they should go down without getting hung up in other trees.

Good morning everyone! I think I am getting the hang of this exercise thing!!! :)

Will it run both your heater and return pump?
i have an inverter for my 40v Ryobi, I'm sure that would give me a good hour on both, lol.

Haven’t tried the heater yet but I’m sure it would with limited run time.

I'm about to retire my heater. Temps in the 90s for the next seven days. It's too early for this.

Here in Michigan and with my tank being in the basement that will never be an option. My basement never exceeds 68 degrees. Nice in the summer, no so much in the winter:(

I remember the chilly basement when I was on the east coast!

Good Morning Reefies
so I'm on FB. yea... I know.
why is it I get friend invites from beautiful (allegedly) women (allegedly)
that I have no current friends with and their page just appeared a day ago?
all they have to do is look at the pics on my page, and see the reef tank, and
know theirs no cash to be had.:)
happy wednesday.

Morning All!
Crazy storms overnight. Heavy rain and wind but nothing damaging.
Bringing one of the kitties to the vet today. Our older one. She has some bone spurs on her spine and arthritic joints. She gets Metacam (pain meds, low dose) every other day to keep her comfortable. They won’t refill her Rx until she has some blood work done so that’s what’s happening today.
Supposed to get down to freezing the next few nights. Stinks because everything is blooming here.
Good day everybody!
Stay Safe!
