Can someone tell me if this "splitting" is it turning into 2 heads or is it dying?

Looks fine. Not sure what you are seeing. Its splitting into 2 heads.
Oh so it's growing into 2 heads then, well that's good news. Sorry if it's a stupid question, new to the hobby so not too familiar with how it grows, I've seen branched ones but never so close together and split from 1. This was just a single, smaller head before

That’s exactly how you get those branches. Over time ones each one has a mouth the “branch” will separate and spread out I’ve noticed.

yes thats how branching corals propagate. they need to split from the flesh area, they dont sprout from the skeleton.

Thanks so much everyone :) I'm happy to hear I'm doing right by the coral! Now to figure out why my alkalinity hasn't dropped in 24 hours! Figuring out dosing is a pain hahah.
