Google Ads at the bottom of some forum pages

A series of Google Ads started to appear at the bottom of some of the forums. They look like they are posts from various section of the site, along with grainy photos. Hovering over the photo shows a link to googleads (see the very bottom of the attached screenshot)

Was this purposely added or do I have some sort of Malware on my system?

It was added on purpose and is a test we are running. If you click you'll be taken to whatever thread you clicked. Nothing shady.

It's slowing down my browsing of the site a ton....Anyone else having the same issues? I'm using IE

I'm on Firefox and I haven't noticed a slowdown.

What seems shady is it appears to be attaching user's avatars or other posted pics to advertisements. I realize we probably give up some ownership rights to pics we upload to this site and can't control how they're used, but still, it seems dishonest. My $0.02
