I recently got the #1 hole filter basket from InTank for my Evo, should I leave leave the foam in slot #2? Seems like a good bio media if nothing else

i would star rising it weekly and see how it goes,

if you have plenty of live rock in the tank it won’t make too much of a diffrence either way. I have a 32 gallon flex which also has the foam. Over the past. 7 months I found it sucked up so much waste that it was better to take any media out of the foam and rinse the foam out in rodi 2wice a week. But this may not be nessesarcy in your case depending on how heavily stocked your tank is and how much you feed.

Honestly that sponge is a nitrate factory, if it gets rinsed weekly then it’s fine but the beneficial bacteria would come off as well.
i personally did the second chamber with chemipure and purigen. Chamber one I have bio balls after filter floss and then I have a DIY fuge running when lights go off with chaeto to control nutrients.. also a great place to let your pods reproduce without being hunted
