So recently I ordered 3 buckets of salt from Marine Depot. On the way the buckets went MIA for a few day but 3 days late they finally showed up with 1 bucket being damaged. I refused it and kept the other 2. I had emailed MD to let them know. The very next day a box shows up addressed to me from MD. I thought there is no way they shipped the new bucket out that fast. UPS thought they would be funny and wrap the damaged bucket in plastic and put it inside a box and give it right back to me. I couldn’t believe it. A follow up call to MD and the real replacement is on its way

With the way they fight you when you file a damage claim, I believe they would try something like that. Just like the government, the insurance company and most other companies any more, if they fight with you long enough you'll give up and go away.

Marine Depot is a stand up company. They saw it marked damage and didn't hesitate to either refund me or send out a new bucket.

I have had buckets come in damaged or lost in the past. 3 all together. 2 were in the same shipment. They were marked as delivered by ups. I never saw them, but MD sent out new buckets without hesitation. The third was Amazon and delivered by one of their vans. It showed up leaking salt on my front porch from a large crack in the bucket and hole in the bag inside. That was also replaced without question. Couldn't be happier with either companys' customer service.

So Marine Depot has been awesome and now I feel bad for these guys. They sent out a replacement bucket of salt and UPS once again has messed that up too. No shipping updates in 5 days. Bucket is MIA. So now they are sending out a 3rd replacement.

Dealing with UPS is a gamble in my experience, but they do provide the best prices. My coral shipment from another reefer is sitting in a container as I'm typing and won't be released until Monday due to "holiday rush". :[

I love watching the TLC (or lack thereof) my deliveries get in my doorbell camera. UPS is none too gentle but the guys at Fed-Ex are outstanding. He even leaves a dog biscuit on top of the box for my doggo.

I buy my salt locally, mainly for the reason above, but also to show some love to my LFS.

"Ah yes my friends at UPS" - I've ordered salt from BRS come damaged (Minnesota is not nice for shipping plastic in winter) there was literally a trail of salt from where the truck parked to my front door (100+ft) and driver made no notice of it.

I've ordered live sand only to find UPS left soaking crushed boxes at my door, never ringing the doorbell.

UPS new slogan " mark it fragile and we only back over it once"

Great for your lawn if he crossed it...not!

Well let me update everyone about the latest with our fun loving friends at UPS. The replacement bucket MD sent out never showed up nor is there any info on even where it might be. They just stopped tracking it. Another call to MD and again they were awesome and sent out a replacement for the other replacement. While tracking that one they said out for delivery. I was thinking great. I was wrong. During the first replacement their page said something to the effect of , Due to unforeseen circumstances your delivery will be rescheduled. We have no bad weather , no UPS truck accident , no roads closed. Later that night my step daughter says " There is some beat up box on the porch with your name on it." So out of 5 buckets of salt 2 were just fine and the others were just a mess with 1 still mia

Looks like I spoke to soon as a bucket of salt just showed up. Who know where its been but its not damaged
