Grafted cap losing green color

Hey guys. So I got a grafted cap a few months back that is losing its green color. It still has its red coloring but the green portion is either turning to red. Or just getting a dull green. (I'll add a picture tonight).

Anyone had this happen to them?

Ca 420
Alk 8.4
Mag 1350
Salinity 1.025
Phosphate (Hanna checker coming soon... but very low algae growth)
Nitrate (haven't tested in a while)

I dose Red Sea Coral colors as well

I've been having coloration problems lately with my SPS too and the consensus seems to be low nutrients. Giving number for your nitrates and phosphates may make it easier to come up with a diagnosis.

I also got a grafted cap from wwc that has lost its green. It still has the red but the green is now brown.

This is common with a graft cap. The orange just tends to over grow or grow faster. The only way I found is to cut the orange part away in hope the new growth is green.

But it's not the new growth. It's the existing green

I have seen the same when they are in to much light. Unlike most monti this grafted one seems to like really low light. Green gets brighter in low light. High light the green turns to an ugly color and red starts to come through in it.

I've experienced the opposite lazylivin. My wwc graft is getting blasted with light and both colors are extremely vibrant. The green over time gets orange veins and the orange seems to slowly win the battle. My piece is pretty large at least 6", and when I cut away the orange that borders the green the green grows in better. I will post a picture tomorrow.

Yes please do. Gonna test my nitrate and low range phosphate soon. Then possibly try a move if that's not the problem

Okay so I tested nitrates using Red Sea nitrate pro. It came out at 0!!! Unless that's a bad test. Gonna cross check with a LFS test. My phosphate test comes tomorrow

I've had coloration problems with my caps when trace elements need replenished

Try adding some Iron. It helps mine.

The green is an infection called GFP (Green Fluorescent Protein). It can be dominated by the red and you are left with an expensive Red Monti Cap.

Ya I do add iron already as part of all my trace elements. Not helping :/

Further questions on the Red dominance.

My frag is 95% red. Did I screw myself by getting this frag? Is there any way to help the green grow?
