Hey Everyone,

So i moved from my old tank to a new waterbox frag 105. I used new marco rocks and sand for the tank. Its been set up and has been running for a few months now. First i had diatoms that went away.

Now im dealing with green algea al over the sand bed. Whenever i clean it up its back the next day. Im not sure what this is and how to get rid of it.

My parameters:
Temp: 25c
Salinitiny: 35
Alkin: 8
Magensiun: 1400
Calcium: 440
Nitrate: 7
Phosphate: 0.07

The thank is running with a skimmer, a reefmat roller fleece and a fuge in the sump. I noticed that the fuge also growns hair algea?

Does it look like what was on my rock back in 2021? The green came shortly after the diatoms and lasted about 6 weeks and went away on its own without intervention. I believe it’s just a normal part of a new tank. Wouldn’t hurt to toss in a tiger conch if the color bothers you, it will keep your sand bed nice and white.

Thanks for the tips guys. So i noticed yesterday that there was a bit of red algea on top of it. It seemed like cyano. Keep in mind this tank has been running for a few months now. So i vacumed it again yesterday using the Eheim Quick vac with floss in the chamber. Today the green algea is back less then 12 hours.
