I noticed that there where polyps missing on my green birds nest and I posted to see what it was and I had a few responses saying that it looks to be receding. What is causeing it and how should I fix it.

Firstly give it time. Id look at flow mainly. They will take a lot more flow than most zoas will endure. Its possible it had a small polyp bail out because of a chemistry issue it didn't like.like too high an alk n shading on that side or something got stirred up or it wasn't getting enough flow. Flow is how the coral breaths and eats.
FWIW the undersides of mine do lose polyps after a while from lack of light.

It's good to move them around too. Results are usually two weeks to a month IME.
