Hello all.
I need some advice on my green cabbage coral , it’s basically dying more than likely due to a nitrate spike but also potentially due to an aptasia growing next to him which I’ve removed.
Is this likely to come back and recover or is it dead?

You can try fragging off any "good" solid tissue

Nitrate spike? How high are your nitrates? It appears the aptasia is stinging that area of the coral. You can remove the aptasia or move the leather.

color will come back w time, looks like you can get at least 2 frags where it is folded ?
just don't leave any necrosis.

I agree with @fishguy242

You nitrates shouldn't have risen that high in two weeks with no water changes. I don't do water changes and I have to dose Ammonium to keep my nitrates above 5. I'd be looking at dirty filters, something dead in the tank. Something has to be contributing to the high nitrates. What tester are you using?

I lost a fish that was being bullied but it was removed the same day.
Filter was cleaned before I went to work then again when I came back , it was dirty but not much more than normal.
I use the Hanna tester and I got it tested at the shop too

I’ve done a 20% water change 2 days ago and I’m going to do another one today

I've had nitrates over 100 and my cabbage coral was fine, nitrate didn't do this.

I see aptaisia, and it looks like the cabbage is lying on a bed of clove polyps.

They also like good light and good amount of flow.

Yeah mate I spotted a aptasia right under him and think that’s the culprit.
I’ve moved him to a higher flow area away from the aptasia while I kill them all
