Guys,
This leather has been in my system for months, pretty much opens up nice daily..:. What is this black stuff all over it????

It looks like it’s choking it:

Looks to be algae buildup on shedding skin. Hard to tell with light spectrum. Can you get a whiter pic?

I tried to scrape it a little bit with the tip of syringe and nothing really came off. The black stuff feels like it’s encrusted...

I think I remember reading that when these turn black it is some type of bacterial issue. I think dipping and/or fragging is usually recommended.

Try using a soft toothbrush, preferably not you own. Haha. And see if it will come off. Does it still open and look healthy? Black stuff on the tissue isnt good.

What are ALL of your water parameters?

The black stuff on coral got worse yesterday:

It started spreading....

This is sad:

So I managed to get a piece off and it’s resting in my frag tank:

That's exactly what I wouldve done. I lost a huge colony of green nepthia also to the same thing. And it really smells when out of the water only to make me think its some sort of bacteria infection.
