Green Monti Digi

I have an ORA green monti digi I purchased from the divers den about a month ago. It broke a couple small pieces during shipping but no real harm done to the coral. I have noticed new growth and a vivid green color with great polyp extension(I only wish it was in a place I could actually get a picture of) On the new growth tips which are about 1/2 inch each it is very red almost like a purple red and as more grows the green fills in but the red tips always remain. Is this normal growth or a sign of something bad? The coral is in a bad place for pics but if it will help, I will move it for a photo shoot:wink:

Sounds normal. If it is ORA' s Then i can say i have never seen it do this, but i have never kept one of my own. I have had other Montiporas that branch some were possibly digitata. Some of them if they got too much light will develop extra color on the tips. I have had purple and pink digis do this.

Yea that looks exactly like it. I got it from dr foster in the divers den so I'm guessing they had it correctly labeled. It seems like the the red coloration is only at the very tips of new growth and the coral is growing and showing great color and polyp extension I just wanted to make sure it wasnt some sign of a disease or something. Thanks for the response, do you think I should move it down a little and see if it goes away or is it something you believe to not be detrimental to their health?

It is not a health issue. It is just adapting to the lighting conditions. I would keep it there, the extra color sounds like it will be more attractive there.
