We need more information about your tank

Pictures would help out a lot to see what is going on.

Parameters and what you are using to test them.

Light and PAR

Flow

Location of the GSP?

Anything that could be bothering them?

You don't need to spot feed GSP. In fact mine will sometimes close up for a week or two when I first got it if I shot water directly at them. Just feed the tank normally.

You said new so I would put it where its getting a good amount of flow and light and leave it be. Mine has stayed closed for weeks after moving.

This piece came from behind the rocks where it spent months in the dark. It was on the urchins back for 3 weeks before it opened up and i plucked it off and glued it down.

Funny thing is for the first few years in the hobby I couldn't keep it alive but I have no idea why.
