Hi,
I’m a bit puzzled by what’s growing in my tank. I asked my LFS, they could not identify it so they suggested to post here.
My tank is 3 months old but part of the live rocks I used are over 10years old from a previous tank.
After about 2 months, « green things » started growing on my old rocks only. They are about 8mm to 1cm long (1/3 to 1/2 in) and about 2mm in diameter ( 1/8 in). They don’t seem to grow wider or taller.
If they are harmless, I don’t mind keeping them, it’s nature. Just want to remove them if they can become invasive.
If someone can help with identification, that would be great.
Thanks for your help!

I was just reading the marine plants post and it says slow but I remember reading about this algae before and it is quite invasive in tanks.

Thank you! do you know if it can be invasive...
Any algae can be invasive if left unchecked. But yes this one can be. Not sure best removal method though.

Thanks, I'll remove it then! That's gonna be some work...

How is it going?
I’ve had a long story fighting this algae in one of my tanks.
It has to be one of the worst pests of all time.
Sometimes it completely dies off and I have no idea why.
But it always rises again from the ashes :)
