Hey all! This is my just started 10g, any tips and suggestions appreciated. Is it normal for a protein skimmer to have so many bubbles? Hoping it goes away over time. Thanks.
Things i am upgrading: the shelf. Right now I am closely monitoring things but we have a better shelf coming that will support more than 10 times the weight

Removed the fluval mini skimmer. Was taking too much room and wasnt a fan. Also I plan to keep a flame scallop in here so I dont want the skimmer taking all particulates out of the water, wanna give him a chance to eat. This is going to be my multi stage approach to keeping one alive

-Small tank will let me get a concentration of food in the water with a smaller dose
-i plan to broadcast feed twice a day
-additionally I plan to siphon foods like marine snow and phytoplankton to it 3 times a day (i plan to feed this like an anthias, i heard they eat a lot)
-all this feeding will call for a decent cleanup crew and regular water changes, i am ready

i know it's a bit crazy but ever since I saw an electric flame scallop i wanted to try my hand at keeping one. I am fully aware i might fail, despite targeted feeding.

The tank is still cycling, but a bit clearer now that the micro bubbles are gone

Thanks for the big welcome! So heres the new stand. Its rated for 400lbs (evenly distributed) so will this hold the 10 gallon? I estimate it all to be just 100 lbs, but its the reason we upgraded it was to have piece of mind that it wouldnt fail (the wire rack its on now is rated 250lbs evenly distributed) Like would yall trust it?

Don’t chase parameters.
I was testing EVERYTHING once a week and then chasing things, playing with dosing.
Turns out I was just chasing my tail. I could never get my calcium and mag where it needed to be.
Stopped testing, stopped dosing, kept up with water changes if I saw something off.
Everything flourished and my tank is near perfect.
The water is clear, lots of corralline algae and everyone is happy.
