Growth on Green Button?

Does anyone know what this growth around the base of these Button Polyps would be? The lights are off, which is the only way to see them. Once the lights come on then there doesn't seem to be any impact on growth or extension. The colony is 10yrs+, the growth started about 4 months ago...

Well, I don't think that these are pineapple sponges - don't have the shape or top feature. But, probably a sponge of some kind. More research into this for sure, I'll update when I get a positive ID...
