What is this on my hammer? It hasn’t been opening much as of lately either. Almost seems like it’s eating at it but I could be wrong.

From your pics it appear to be a sponge, have you touched it? does it feel soft? you should be able to remove it it can annoy your torch if so
I have not touched it yet I can do this tomorrow. What's best way to scrape it off just with anything?

Best way is with a scalpel if you have one or with your nails if you got any lol theyre not too hard to come off

I have one Unrelated question but I am wondering if I should switch the post to another form for it. Regarding raising and stabilizing alk/ph.

Just wanted to update you I pulled the coral out and went for a scrape and it seemed to be “gooey” anyhow I cleaned it off and honestly just used coral glue over the little hole that it was in just Incase this was some sort of bore sponge “shrug” guess we will see what happens
