If you're in reefing long enough, you are bound to come across a fish that may cause some fish that can cause some terror on the reef. Although there are certain fish that get a bad rep, there are lots of fish that can morph into the ultimate grumpy gills...

On a Scale from 1 - 10, how mean is your meanest fish?
What kind of fish is it? Show it off!

I voted 2 because other than and occasionally swim through by my purple tang to scatter the other fish so they know he's boss my tanks are peaceful. I won't have a tank that has more than an occasional chase. I hate watching aggression in my tanks, it takes the fun out of it for me.

I voted 2. Mostly because my YWG will try to bite anything that gets to close to his lair (which is rare). He actually grabbed my hippo tang by the face and tried to pull him in the hole when the hippo was still a tiny little lad, even though the hippo was considerably larger than the goby.

Right now they're all super peaceful, but in the past there was that clownfish from hell :D

IME, a well tended tank will often report minimal aggression as our artificial aggregations and feeding regimes tend to lend themselves to domesticated assemblages of prisoners in our tiny holding systems.

Let the tank miss a week or two worth of feedings to reset natural instincts and I think the Apex predators will emerge from their domesticated bliss and demonstrate their true feelings.

I would not recommend trying this at home.

right now my Yellow Tang can get grumpy but that's if I didn't put Nori in early enough in the day..

My clowns always nip at my hands when I am cleaning the tank or moving coral. I have had to put the net in the tank to block them from. They are an 8 only because they don't bother their tank mates much.

I just had a springeri damsel go agro yesterday and tried to kill one of my clowns. Until yesterday, I hadn't noticed any aggression from it at all. Took 5 hours, but finally managed to catch that one and return him to the LFS he came from. During the hours spent trying to catch that fish, my pair of clowns kept really close to my hands the whole time, and never tried to nibble or bite me at all. I'm curious if those with clowns that like to bite them were always like that, or if that is just something to expect as they get older

I’ve been told they turn evil once they start to get older I really hope mine stay nice tho

I have a Tomini that isn’t exactly the “welcome wagon” for new neighbors, but otherwise everything is pretty peaceful….for now!!!
