Gsp and firework polyps together?

Hey guys I'm setting up a new 15g reef it's currently still cycling but I'm starting to plan corals. I really want to do a back wall covered in gsp and firework clove polyps.

What I'm seeing in my head is the gsp taking over the majority of the wall with "pockets" for lack of a better term of firework polyps. I've never done them this close in proximity they will literally be touching when grown in down the line. how do you guys think this will fair?

Welcome to r2r. I see no reason why that would not work. You are the gardener. Make it happen.

You can do the two but they'll overgrow eachother. The reason both have a bad rep is because people end up putting them on the main rock and then it takes over. As long as its on separate island it should be okay

Yea I used to have gsp on my main rock in another tank I love the stuff but I'll never do that again lol so you think eventually one or the other would win out?

More important than what covers the back wall is how do you intend to cycle your tank and what you consider for biofiltration.

Sounds like a cool idea. The gsp might grow faster than the clove polyps so you might need to trim it back occasionally. I have some clove polyps growing on my back wall and they spread more vertically vs horizontally so adding a few pieces side by side might help fill things out better.

Tank is allready cycling with Dr Tim's one and only and amoniom chloride as for bio I've got about 10#s of live rock about 15#s of live sand and the back compartment has a ton of ceramic rings from another well established system not sure how much just shoved a bunch back there for the rest of the filtration it's got a roller a skimmer and I am going to be setting up a mini refugium after the cycle

I think that the gsp would grow and the clove polyps would reach out through the gsp almost like grass and plants. Never know till you try, keep us updated so I can copy you

I see what you mean though looks very cool I will make sure to my frag real low to start thanks for the tip!! Also that chalice is beautiful!!

How do you get your GSP so vibrant green, that looks amazing!
