So I got a frag of a gsp 2 days ago and it took the first day for it to open up. it was looking good yesterday, but today it has fully closed up. I don’t know if it’s from the light being off or maybe because I moved its spot? Any thoughts?

It's probably still adjusting if you moved it more. GSP is rather bulletproof so I'd just give it a few days. Make sure your tank parameters are good and it's getting good flow and light.

Both can cause it to close up. Mine closes at night and doesn't like to be touched.

Edit: I known most folks say GSP is bulletproof and a good starter coral but I could not keep it alive the first few years. I added a piece after 5 or 6 years and now it grows fine. I have no idea why just thought I would mention it.

They can be temperamental and as mentioned not all make it.

I had this one from the start and it has been closed many times when upset:

So far it made it through number of calamities.

Just a suggestion, GSP can become a pest so try to keep it on its own rock or back wall.
When water parameters are great and GSP is happy it will grow and suffocate, cover and outgrow other corals in its path.

Please take this time to remove the gsp from your main structure. When it does take off it will end up ruining your tank.

Yes I’d like to have it grow on my back wall, any suggestions on how I should go about?
