Hey all!

Tank is around 2 years old and I have had this GSP for all of those 2 years. It has covered a huge chunk of the overflow. Over the last 2 weeks or so, it has slowly lost its color and now most polyps are not opening. The GSP under it is thriving and was actually cut from this patch around 5 months ago. All other corals are doing great. Thoughts?

No changes in lighting in years, parameters are stable. ICP test lately had no issues.

I'd give it some time. My GSP gets fits like these for a few weeks and then comes back stronger. As long as your parameters and light haven't changed you should be ok. Run some GAC maybe?

My GSP looks just like that whenever I have cyano flare ups in my tank. It closes like that and then I noticed the red film a day or two later. If you don't have a cyano issue, maybe it has to do with something else iritating it. Try gently blowing on it with a turkey baster to remove any debris and dislodge any algae or slime. That tends to work for me.
