GSP Question

Poor picture but this GSP will get greener won’t it? Does not look like pictures iv seen

The base, encrusting part of GSP is purple, and the polyps/hairs are green tipped.

When it's disrupted and/or newish, the polyps go in so it looks purple only (you are only seeing the base). When it's thriving, it looks like neon green grass swaying with the flow cause all of the polyps are out.

GSP is very very hardy. It looks just fine here. It'll take off before you know it and take over.

It looks like its on your back glass - pro tip is to keep it away from the teeth in your overflow :)

Thanks Stevo - The main trunk is a browny colour then the multiple branches that come off that are brown - will this part turn green or will it only be the end tips that are green. Some pictures iv seen look a lot more lush that what this is looking like. Just wondering if there are different types of GSP and if iv missed a trick picking the right one? Or this will improve in time as it’s just new in the tank?

Yes, there are different cultivars for GSP.
However, try some white light which has reds, greens & yellow.

It takes awhile for coral to adjust to a new tank. It should start to open up more polyps that will hide the purple/brown base of the coral. Usaully takes up to 2 weeks for a coral to fully adjust, although gsp will likely adjust sooner.

Agreed. I have to cut mine back every 3 weeks or so.
