Gyre pumps

I'm currently installing a RS 350 peninsula and had the aquascaping done by a pro who installed some pretty neat rock work. The only problem is that on one side of the 350 peninsula the rock work consumes to much wall space to place the Gyre pumps horizontally on the glass. I can only fit them vertically. Is that going to be an issue and have a significant impact on the quality of my circulation? I could break off some of that rock and fit them in horizontally but that could be risky in terms of how the rock breaks. Does anyone have any idea concerning Gyre pumps placed vertically instead of horizontally? Thank you any feedback or advice you might offer. Best, Steve D.

I don’t see why you couldn’t use them vertically. I know some people do. I use Jebao gyre-type pumps. They are strong and I use them at 30%-45%.

You can. They work both ways, just the stream will be different versus horizontally

I do not like to put them vertically for one reason. The main reason for those pumps is to move the surface water of the tank. Gyre pumps are great at that and move the entire surface.

If you put them vertical, that will not happen, and you will just be moving "sub surface" water around.

Moving the surface is how we put oxygen in the tank. I would move some of the rocks to do this. You only need a few inches to do this.

I have 3 tanks, 2 I have horizontal and 1 vertical. I will say flow has been more challenging in the vertical layout but all you have to do is plan what is going where.

I have the vertical gyres bouncing off side glass and circling around the front on random flow mode.
