H. Malu - Anyone ever tried this?

I've decided to take the plunge and get this H. Malu. I made a cleared sandy area for it in my tank but now I heard of a trick and think I'll try it. To elevate it above the sand bed and away from all other corals I'm going to put it in a natural stone bowl on a pedestal and fill it with fine sand. The bowl is 16" x 13" x 6" deep. This way it will be away from the corals and strong flow, in a soft sandy substrate and closer to strong light.

Any thoughts?

That is a very beautiful but bleached Malu. They don’t really need high flow or very high light. Very tolerance and should do well once he settle in.
The bowl would be perfect.

I knew someone would say that. Actually it’s not. There are a few truly white ones and this is one of them. Believe me, I’m paying for it too!

It has been in QT for many months and is super healthy. I’ve been keeping an eye on it. I think it’s the photo that makes it look like that.

Glad you like the bowl idea. I think it’s pretty cool.
