haddoni carpet and bta question

ok so i have a bta and haddoni carpet...my question is,is it ok for both to be in the same tank?i am planning to put both anemone in a 180gal tank..any concerns i should be aware of?

any advice inputs is greatly appreciated..thanks:bigsmile:

I did the same thing in a 120, ended badly for me. Introduced both at the same time and they ran into each other. Carpet died...oddly enough. Introduced a LTA, that ran into the BTA and died as well. Lesson learned...keep one species of nem at a time. .02

i have tried a little bit with a haddoni and an lta, it didnt work for me, but i did some looking around before hand. the bigger the tank the better of course. try to keep them on opposite sides of the tank, and keep the flow from pointing one anemone at the other. they can release their stinging cells ( i forgot their actual name) into the water and you dont want the anemones knowing there is another species nearby. After all that it will always come down to the specific anemone and give it a shot. if they keep moving around, take one out.

I agree with the above posters. One species is best. If you have small fish, go with the bubble cause carpet anemone's are notorious for catching and eating fish. Otherwise Haddoni's are really nice.

i am planning to put both in a 180gal tank...and yes i will put one on the other end side and one on the other side...
as long as they dont go close or bump at each other is it gonna be ok?or theres also concerns on chemical warfare?
any one have success on this they wanna share...?i am getting disappointed i really wanna keep both in the same tank...

I'd also like to hear more answers from people who have had first hand experience with this mix of anemones. I think I've read that carbon could help control chemical warfares that could occur.

Its not so much a chemical war thing. They don't like each other and wont settle in. The last thing you want is a wandering anemone or two
They sting corals, and get caught in power heads on top of fighting with each other.

instead of risking the envitable of a nem, or worse mess your tank up, why not just get a different color of a carpet? if you have a red, get a blue or something else.

I had a GBTA and RBTA. When I introduced my blue haddoni, both BTAs shriveled down and eventually died.

I had a rbta and a carpet in a 5ft 120, I had the bta for years and added the carpet later. The carpet had saddleback clowns hosting and the bta had pink skunk clowns hosting. The carpet was dead center on the bottom and the bta was top right on the rocks, never had a problem in the 1.5 years I had them together

That doesnt mean you wont, just because you have been lucky so far. Now you just jynxed yourself too..

No longer have the carpet....or that tank for that matter :) I think I would have problems if they went into my 30 cube or 40 breeder together lol

I know what you mean, people were more impressed that I had 2 pairs of clowns in the same tank that long that no one ever commented on the nems

I'd say stick with 1 anemone, carpets are really aggressive and will probably kill anything it touches.

I got stung by them too, very painful, not initially. So I can imagine how much pain anything it touches, goes through.

ok heres an update...
after 3 weeks of having the bta in the tank with the carpet....the last week of it was bad for the bta...it started pooping almost every night...inflate/deflate(also when its inflated the tentacles are not the full and its not bubbled up either)...when it shrinks and poop the mouth gaped really big and the insides comes out...
yesterday noon it pooped and it dettached itself on the container it attached on....i pull it out and i can see a few tentacles are kinda not looking good...also the color started fading and it doesnt look like what it was when i first got it....
so i transferred it in my 75gal softy tank...after 10-15 mins..it started to inflate and mouth starting to close...after an hour its already fully open and attached to the wall after a few more hours its already moving..and this morning i found it attached to the rockwall in a hidden spot but its very much happy....so lesson learned from experience....i am just glad it was not too late....
i am happy...i was planning to break down my 75gal but now i guess i have to keep it...:D
the bta's color is not that bad..it went more in the yellow side...its still a beauty....ill take pics when i ahve a chance.:)
