Halloween hermits

I've been sold these instead of the standard scarlets are there any pros and cons between the two or id a hermit a hermit

Not many cons in my opinion for halloween crabs. Only thing about them is to provide them cone snail shells, they have adapted to fit the thin space in a cone snail shell vs the big round ones like turbos. Halloweens are defanitly beautiful. The scarlets are slightly better cleaners I think. But you defanitly got a better deal. In my area scarlets are $3 on the high end. Halloweens are $10 just for that coloration. I'd be happy.

I love my Halloween hermit. I've got my initial diatom outbreak and he picks the rock super clean. He's not necessarily fast but the area he grazes in gets picked back to white rock.

I named him Freddy Krueger :)

Mine didn't move for 2 days after I put it in and I was convinced he was dead. Then I put in a little pinch of mysis for my shrimp and green emerald crab and suddenly the Halloween hermit was on the move. He was very active after that. Yesterday he got himself wedged into a little cranny in my rocks and I had to reach in and get him out and now it's been about 24 hours since he's moved. Fingers crossed he's ok.

i had one. i dont know what his deal was, but he was not nice. ate 2 of my feather dusters.
banished him to the sump after that.
