Dave if you dont think it add anything new, I would advise you to play it online. It has 100's of new features not to mention some really sweet new weapons.

Al, Xbox live is $50 a year.

i have played it online alot. Read my last comments.. Honestly I think it is just ok online.. I played the Cod 4 beta and it was only 3 maps but I thought it was more fun than halo online... It seems to be just a bunch of people jumping around trash talking. I play in a clan and we will be competeing in Halo 3 but I know allot of the people in our clan are just using Halo 3 as fill in till Cod 4.

I have it. I beat the game on legendary this weekend. The game is ok. It is better than Halo 2 but not nearly as good as Halo 1. The game really adds nothing new and is and 1st and 3rd person shooters have saturated the market and are getting boring. The Game is worth buying but do not expect it too live up to the hype because than you will be disappointed, buy it thinking it is a good game.

Seems halo online brings out the ***** in people or does Halo attract *****s? I have never seen so many jerks play a game online. all the racial crap, bashing, trash talking and swearing. I quit playing Halo 2 because of it all it just gets annoying after a while.

Dave

i'm guessing you are a computer gamer...not a console gamer. seems most computer gamers don't like halo at all.

what is it about halo 1 that you liked so much compared to these? i thought halo 1 kinda sucked b/c it looked like the same level over and over again. the scenes were so repeatable it was annoying, i felt like i was getting lost all of the time b/c i couldn't figure out where i was.

but i agree the online part can definitely get annoying. although, i could deal with people trash talking. i just made fun of them b/c they sounded so ridiculous. the cheating is what turned me off and the reason why i ultimately quit.

is that for the gold version?

btw.....i'm thinking halo3 was waaaay easier than the first 2 versions. i definitely liked it......esspecially the very last level. i'm glad they brought back the *escape* like in the first halo.....that was fun.

second, the skulls in halo3 are a TON easier to find than in halo2. they were ridiculously hard to find in halo2 IMO.

third, the story doesn't make a whole lot of sense in halo3. what is the freakin' purpose of the forerunner ships? why were they launched? what purpose did they have? (where did they go?)

four, i can't believe they got rid of dual wielding needlers.....that was always fun unloading those. and why did they get rid of the "lock on target" ability on the rocket launcher?

btw......can someone please explain what the skulls do? other than unlocking that sptupid achievement icon. yippe!

i heard someone say it upgrades your armor.......but i'd like to know more specifics.

If you collect them all they unlock armor.. I did it already, there is info on the net on where to get them. There are somre achievements for collecting some.

also there is settings if you turn skulls on that makes the game harder.

Alright - a skull guide (copied and edited for here)

Gold Skulls:
Hint: Skull Collecting
While collecting skulls, keep in mind that you have to start the stage from the beginning (not from a checkpoint), but once you acquire the skull you're seeking, you can save and quit at any time without finishing the stage. This will allow you to collect skulls without having to worry about finishing the stage successfully.

Iron Skull - Sierra 117 (If you die, you restart from the beginning of the level.)
Black Eye Skull - Crow's Nest (When you lose shield, the only way to get it back it to melee an enemy.)
Tough Luck Skull - Tsavo Highway (Your enemies never back down, always make their saving throws, and always charge you.)
Catch Skull - The Storm (Your Enemies throw LOTS of grenades.)
Fog Skull – Floodgate (You lose your motion sensor.)
Famine Skull - The Ark (Enemies drop 50% of the ammo they usually drop.)
Thunderstorm Skull - The Covenant (All enemies are given a field promotion, and ranked up to their next available level.)
Tilt Skull – Cortana (When activated, enemies will become more resilient to your attacks, more armor.)
Mythic Skull – Halo (All enemies have double their usual health.)

Silver Skulls:

Blind– Sierra 117 (The arms of the player and the motion tracker disappear.)
Grunt Birthday Party – Crow’s Nest (If you manage to get a headshot on a Grunt, the Grunt will explode.)
Cowbell – The Ark (Explosions become much bigger in the game..)
IWHBYD – The Covenant (Unlocks Hidden Dialogue throughout Halo 3’s Campaign.)

Only the gold skulls are actual achievements - but the Hyabusa armor permutations are unlocked as you collect more of the skulls (getting all of them nets you the full set minus the katana strapped to your back - you get this once you achieve ALL 1000 achievement points)

The skulls in turn can be used when you play the campaign mode - (use X to change game options - and you can turn on scoring and turn on/off the skulls and their various effects - this is how you score the meta game achievements when you score 15000 points in each level - something I've yet to accomplish)

mmmk...questions....

1) WHY do you want to activate a skull that makes it harder for you to win? if you win, does it do something special at the end? this doesn't make any sense to me why you'd want to make the game harder for no reward....

oh, so if you activate one of these skulls...making it harder, you score more points?

score enough points and you get a katana? does it do anything? lol

2) Hyabusa armor permutations? what the heck is that? whats so special about this armor? can you use it in multiplayer?

3) achievement points....whats the purpose? yeah i've gotten some points and so forth...but i still dont understand what the ultimate purpose of them is. (i.e. i understand the ranking system in multiplayer though)

ok - 1) the skulls (besides unlocking the armor variants) work as bonus multipliers when playing campaign with scoring on - thus allowing you the 9 achievements (guerilla, demon, cavalier, askar, exterminator, ranger, vanguard, orpheus, and reclaimer) but if you don't care about achievements then getting the skulls is probably pretty worthless to you.

2) in multiplayer you can change your appearance based on what achievments you've accomplished (ie various different armor pieces - head, body, right shoulder, left shoulder)

3) I can't explain achievements - there are two types of people that play XBOX games - those that care about achievements and those that don't - some achievements unlock game features, bonuses etc - if you don't 'get' it I can't really explain it to you.

I just like to shoot people, and be target practice for 12 year olds.

what about when you get teabagged by a 33 year old?

LOLZ

33 isn't too bad since thats at least somewhat close to my age bracket.....however, anything above 40......i may to just kill myself...

what good did the skulls do in halo 2? i dont remember anyone looking different in online play with added armor or anything.

I got tired of being pwned by kiddies. I just sold mine and got Orange Box! Seriously, you can't beat the value.
