CoWorker has it, she got it the morning it came out and held it all day (physically didn't set it down the entire day). Lucky she's a recepionist :)

She LOVES it, says the graphics are awesome.

I'll get it later, there are other games I'm dying to try (Bio-Shock, Just Cause, Saints Row)...can you tell I'm a 360 newb :)

just got it last night - I was part of the multiplayer beta they had back in June/July - it's ok - I played about 3 hours and am halfway through the campaign on normal already. The graphics are decent compared to other 360 games. I think the multiplay on this will be the real reason why people buy it.

yeah, PC games are really in a whole different category than console games......so its tough to compare them and say one is better than the other.

i mean, obviously PC games have so much more going for them......but IMO the market for them is shrinking drastically the last couple of years.

every time a new PC game comes out, you gota pretty much have the most cutting edge desktop PC in order to play it.

and in a day and age where technology is getting smaller, and people are getting more mobile with their technology.......laptops are rulling the world....and lets just face it, your average laptop isn't equiped to run allot of these PC games.

thats the big turn off with PC games for me.....otherwise, i agree they are better than console games.

but the console games appeal to a MUCH larger demographic of people, and their ease of use as far as controls, set up/installation, is just a ton easier.

so can you play the campaign on the hardest level (legendary i'm guessing), WITH people in a co-op fashion over xbox live?

Yeah you can, my friend and I are playing co-op online in Legendary right now. The best feature of the game has to be the theatre mode which saves the past 25 things you have done... whether they be live games or campaign... this is very revolutionary!!! This game on an HD tv will BLOW YOU AWAY, the graphics are insane... the only thing that is kind of hard to get used to is the new sniper (you cant pop off multiple shots are quickly as you used to) and the controls are slightly different. Overall this is the best video game I have ever owned... btw I am a level 12 in Team Slayer right now, if anyone wants to play with me send me a pm and I will give you my gamertag... Al, dont wait go buy it NOWWWWWWWWW

I think once I can afford a nice tv I'll get a 360. The halo game did look sweet on my brothers plasma. I'm rockin the ps2 on a 21 inch tv right now. LOL....

About the tv you bring a really good point, the details on my flat panel are very very nice the environments actually look REAL. I am in love...

coralnutz, actually........cheating on xbox live is alive on well, unfortunately.

i got halo2 when it came out in november, and got the xbox live around xmas over break during grad school when i had nothing to do. i didnt see allot of cheaters pop up until sometime in the spring and early summer, but by the early summer it was VERY bad. and completely ruined the fun of the game. so i pretty much quit playing, and cancelled my xbox live subscription after that.

i really hope xbox live does a better job this time around of eliminating the cheaters with modded consoles and games at least for the online match making play. people can do whatever they want in private games or lan parties IMO.

patedship....i promised myself i wouldn't go out and get it yet....lol.....i have a couple of *projects* i'm working on at the moment. and productivity would come to a screaching hault if i got the game right during the middle of the release hype...

although, i'm sure i wont get xbox live for a while even if i got the game, but of course.....once i beat the campaign on the difficult level......i'd want the xbox live to do multiplayer or the legendary campaign.......

very tempting...... ;)

good point on GTA....but unless you want to devote countless hours of "getting no where".....lol.....you almost have to read up on it.

at least with halo, reading up on the game won't really help you that much. theres only 1 path per say, and you can either dodge a bullet or laser or you can't....lol.

when i got halo2, it came with a strategy guide, but i honestly only opened it up to see where the weapons were located on the multiplayer maps.....but once you play the multiplayer maps enough, you just kinda learn where the weapons are anyways.

i always like to play the team battles. liked big team battle capture the flag the best. i'm not a big fan of everyone man for himself slayer....too much chaos. takes more skill to orangize a team effort and accomplish an objective IMO.

what other new games have they added on Halo3 for xbox live?

Tell me about it, i've spend a way more than a 360 costs to get computers together that can run these games. I wish the console games had more controller options. I love shooter games, but after playing them with keyboard and mouse for so many years, it's really tough to get used to the controllers.

Another HUGE advantage to consol games when it comes to online playing is that it helps eliminate the cheaters. Every online PC game it's so easy to get cheats for them to help you win online. I'm sure they ahve these for consoles to an extent, but probably not nearly as much. I would guess most people just buy them and play them and don't look do to many mods and such.

This lead me to get a wii. I had it for like 3-4 weeks and sold it after the novelty of the controllers wore off. The games kind of suck...

so what PC shooters are you playing? I still pick up BF2 every once in awhile...although everyone and there mother is using that stupid SVD hack. I played the RTS WorldInConflict for the closed Beta, open Beta, and the demo...but don't have the time or money to put into the full game right now.

I thought about getting a 360 just to use the 1080p my TV supports but I don't think I would play it enough to make it worth it. Since you are local how about you buy a 360 and we can use it with my TV :p

so i gave in and got a copy of Halo3, haven't played it yet as i have some other stuff to do first.

i was hoping it would come with one of those free xbox live trials like that always came with some games on the original xbox (i.e. 3 month trial i got with halo2).

but it didnt come with anything. :(

well, i just looked in the box of my other 360 game, looks like i got a 48hr free xbox live gold membership trial.

so thats good, at least i have it.

but is this just a 2-day membership? and if you dont use it you lose it? or is it 48hrs of actual game play online? so theoretically, if you dont get on that much, it could last you a couple weeks?

why do they do it like this now? i liked the 3month free membership i had last time.

also, how much does the xbox live subscriptions cost?

I have it. I beat the game on legendary this weekend. The game is ok. It is better than Halo 2 but not nearly as good as Halo 1. The game really adds nothing new and is and 1st and 3rd person shooters have saturated the market and are getting boring. The Game is worth buying but do not expect it too live up to the hype because than you will be disappointed, buy it thinking it is a good game.

Seems halo online brings out the ***** in people or does Halo attract *****s? I have never seen so many jerks play a game online. all the racial crap, bashing, trash talking and swearing. I quit playing Halo 2 because of it all it just gets annoying after a while.
