Hammer bailout regrowth?

Got a hammer a few weeks ago and the polyps bailed out after a few days. I never through the skeleton away just left it where it was. the skeleton was completely white but recently I've noticed pink streaks on the stem and a some purple growth on the heads. Does this sound like it's regrowing?
