hammer coral dying please help!!

i think u should definitely try that iodine dip if u haven’t yet. many people in many stores said i should try a dip. i bought a dip and read the instructions and was specific instructions for dipping only for in tank use as i was using a bottle of seachem. but looked at the tank and there was no coral left[emoji853]

I think my coral was unhealthy when I bought it. We only have two lfs in Corpus Christi Texas and they both aren’t very good. I purchased it because they rarely have anything good and i wouldn’t have to pay for shipping but I think I’m done locally. Online shopping for me from now on. Seems like better quality and spending 80-90 bucks for a coral to last 2 weeks isn’t good. I’m pretty bummed cuz a golden hammer has been high on my list for a while. I will try that iodine dip today and see what happens. Thanks bud

The gold hammer doesn't look that bad to be honest. It's still opening and doesn't look totally deflated. About the only thing you could really do it get things to look better is cut away some of the skeleton. This would decrease the risk to algae collecting and eventually taking over the coral. The problem with wall hammers vs branching is the growth/healing rate. I have found walls to grow way slower and recover slower than branching. Keeps us updated.
