Hammer coral help

I had my hammer coral and a green star polyp for about 2 weeks and they were doing great for that time.

For the last 3 days the GSP has not been out and don’t know why.

Also, today my hammer coral is very retracted and looks like it has something growing from its skeleton.

Anyone can explain what is going on?

Snap those off your hammer. They are vermatid snails. Common. Coral glue over where they were growing. Do you have cyano on your gsp?

Consider raising your nitrates. Mine are happiest between 5-10.

Last picture looks to be way too much light. Try reduce your light intensity.

They need some N03 and a trace of P04 to be healthy.

Agree with the cyano on the GSP but I don't see the vermatid that you see. Those are some sort of other polyp that came as a hitchhiker, I remember commenting on these corals a little while back. It is hard to really tell whats up with the hammer but I would try to bring the nitrate and phosphate up just a tad..

Ok. You may be right, but I had the exact same thing on mine. (I was told vermatid) snap them off and glue them.

I read online maybe its new hammer polyps coming out, i see 6 in total. If i don’t take them out will my coral die? I read about brushing with a soft toothbrush to remove the cyano from the GSP. Is this the best way?

See if you can suck the cyano off with a turkey baster
