Anyone have any idea why my hammer is looking like this?
They used to be big and puffy and look wilted and deflated now.
I could post parameters but wondering if anyone will have an idea of what may be going on by the picture before I post pictures.
Thanks

Any clownfish getting friendly with them? No other changes? Only 1-2 heads affected on each? Might be splitting, but tough to say with what info is available so far. Time might tell. No jelly is a good thing though!

The flow and light have been pretty consistent. I don’t know if they are looking like this because of low phosphate and nitrate?? as other torch and frogs look happy

Are these the most recent additions to the tank? And you had the torches and frogspawn longer? I am wondering if they are new if they came from a system that has lower PAR than where you have them now and needed some time on the sand bed to adjust?

The 2 different pictures show different locations, and I'm sure why @crocodile receptionist asked about movement. Your Ca is low and your Mg is too high as well, in regards to natural levels (420 Ca, 1280 Mg). I dont think those will factor into the problem you have though, likely a light or flow issue.

Maybe flow then?
I have 2 mp40 in lagoon mode on 20% which seems to be good movement?
par is between 85-95 and been at that for a month now since I got the par meter.
I’ve had both those hammers for just over 4 months now.
Thanks everyone for responding.

In my experience with hammers the flow should keep the tips of the tentacles gently moving if possible, but they can tolerate a wide range of flow. Nothing too direct though.

Have you tried dipping it in case it's something bacterial? Maybe do a water change just to improve the chemistry you can't test for?

Run your powerheads in reef-crest mode about 40% for starters then gradually increase them.

Just to confirm, Do you think my flow is to low? Which is why you are suggesting to increase the flow? Or is reef crest a better mode for lps coral?
My tank is 48x24 powerheads are on opposite sides of the tank.
Thanks

I have frogspawn in one tank & hammer in another and they both reacted (in growth) to reef crest mode. It varies flow. Sometimes slow & subtle, other times more turbulent. If you set it at roughly 40% which is pretty mild see if the heads expand larger. Getting more flow around them seems beneficial.

Wow that’s a beauty happy looking piece. I will have to try reef crest mode, I think I will start at 30% and go from there. Thanks
