This Hammer has been in my tank a few weeks but the base looks weird. Does anyone know what this might be. It is hard and doesn’t blow off.

Almost looks like it was fragged, the skeleton cracked and someone put a "cast" of epoxy putty over the break to hold the skeleton in place until it healed?

Otherwise, if it isn't a sponge then I have no other guesses at what I am looking at.

I was thinking could be epoxy but not 100. Figured it was way to hard to be a sponge literally feels like a rock.
