Hello everyone I recently purchased some corals online, and unfortunately this hammer came a bit damaged. Does anyone know what the problem is and can the head bounce back? Amy help is greatly appreciated.

Your salinity is a bit low, but I don't think that would cause polyp recession like that. That head may recover, but it may not. If it does not, I'd remove that head.

When is it a good time to call it quits on the head?

if it were me, I wouldn't touch it unless it fully dies and bails out. Nothing bad can really happen from giving it more time, it doesn't look like a malady that would spread to the other head.
