hammer peeling from base again

It actually started peeling about 10 days ago , again. I dipped again, 2x the lugols dose, I had nothign to lose. It's ok at this point. Then my hard to kill torches were peeling and dying. I thought my ALK was fine. turns out it wasnt being testted by my Triden in a long time. I just saw that last value (7 or so). I know, i wasnt resposnbile to see if the reagents were empty. ANyhow, the alk was 14!. and I havfe low nutrients. I normally aim for 7-7.5 in MY tank system.
I dont know if it was that high from 3 weeks ago when this all started or if that independantly causd the torches to 'fry'. I'm gong to guess it was high, maybe not as high as that and contributed to the hammer peeling. We'll see how it goes in the next weeks esp as the alk settled back to 7's.
Hopefuly some of this pile of info helps someone else.
And maybe neptune will come up with an alert to your phone that tells you when something serious is a miss. Do they do that now?
