I know my frogspawn does both! I would assume hammers are the same

I figured as much just curious. It looks like my one branch is splitting, it’s getting wider and looks a little flat in the middle. But I thought they grew new heads

Both. You will see heads split and new heads form off the skeleton. I see way more heads splitting than growth off the skeleton, but I do get some. Photo shows a splitting head.

That is my understanding. However, I only have one huge colony (bigger than a basketball) that I grew out from a single head. All my other stuff is SPS. So I don't have personal experience with it, so maybe others can speak from their personal experiences... (I don't want to offer an opinion on something I have not seen myself :)). It is very happy, though, and I have a resident clownfish that hosts and guards it.

That’s pretty cool. I’ve heard clowns hosting them before but haven’t actually seen video. Nice!
