Hammer question

Just wanted to get your opinion on how my hammer frag looks. I had an issue with my skimmer, creating micro bubbles and it really annoyed the hammer. It literally pulled back into skeleton so far that I thought the polyp detached and it was dead. It took a couple days for it to come back out. I just want to see what your opinion is of how it looks now. Thanks!

It looks good to me. Corals can retract for a number of reasons sometimes it can freak us out, but that hammer looks pretty happy

It looks fine, however ur tank looks super clean. Make sure u have good phos and nitrate 6ppm nitrate .06 phos at the lowest would be my suggestion.

Funny, my phosphates are through the roof and I’ve Been having an issue getting it down. Last check my nitrates were 16.5 and my phosphate was .85 both on a Hanna colorimeter.

Ah ya phos is a bit high. Take your time. I’d just do water changes if you can

Water changes generally only lower phosphates temporarily. Often times phos is bound to live rock/sand, and after the water change it just releases back in to the water.

This is why people turn to GFO, Lanthanum Chloride, refugiums, algae turf scrubbers.

I had almost the same phos as you, I used LC dosed in to a 1 micron filter sock to lower mine. It took a couple months to go from .7 to .2

It’s a Biocube there’s really no way to use a filter sock. I tried doing brightwells phos-E by the skimmer but didn’t seem to have much effect

I actually have another thread going about this. Going to try a live phyto species that use phosphates and nitrates as energy, just have to go slow and Watch my levels. Probably will turn to gfo soon as well
