I want to create a little hammer frogspawn garden at the mouth of this little cave. Will it be a problem if I move my hammer over to the right where it would potentially touch the rock? I’m assuming it would just close up? Or worse die? Or will it be okay?

Euphyllia of different species in my aquaria touch the stonework all the time - I have not seen any problem with that

Does it have space to grow? My hammer and frogspawn grew from a 2 polyp frag to the size of a volleyball, I would suggest to give several inches of space all around for growth

Assuming your environment encourages growth this space will be used up certainly within a year.

My only concern "touching" is with jagged edges. If things are smooth, no concerns.

It should be fine! Keep in mind room around it for branching and enjoy watching it create new heads!
