hammer with white spot?

I have a hammer that I have had for almost 2 months and it has developed this white spot on the skeleton it opens fully when light is on. all of the parameters are good.

Could be a sponge. I've seen them show up there on euphyllia frags.
I just scrape it off. Or you could probably just leave it and see what happens.
